"Perseverance"
A picture of steadfastness, patience, and courage...this Live Oak has weathered centuries of good times and bad, wars and peace, prosperity and poverty...only to keep looking up, and drawing its strength from the sun above, and the earth below.
It is a lesson for me to keep going forward, to not give up, and to not lose hope. "Perseverance" is a trait I would like to cultivate in my own life, along with the courage that undergirds it.

All proceeds for the sale of this painting have gone to support Shining Light Equestrian, which was a non-profit organization here in Knoxville that incorporated horses for use in therapy for children (and adults) with special needs. I have been privileged to work with them as a volunteer, and have been richly blessed to be a part of the work they did. They are no longer in operation, but fortunately Knoxville does have another wonderful organization with the same mission.
